what sort of fishing do you use for these? Rough area? I would like to try fishing near home some day. Don't really know where to start.

Nice fish! Hard to find any fish better on the barbeque than an early season fat Fraser River spring.

the snagging fest begins i see, i hope they ban the bottom snagging, its killing the whole sport.
its really not cool to do that you know, poor fish make it through 3-5 yrs in the ocean then get snagged in the face and clubbed.
try bar fishing for them when the water clears a bit, best thing ever.

At least with bar fishing you hook them in a less tender spot..... like inside the mouth...... and then you club them till they're dead!

This is starting to sound like an, I bowhunt therefore I am, you hunt with a rifle so you aren't, kind of conversation......

It's meat. You get it your way, I'll get it mine as long as they are both legal

Is that grassy bar? Looks like Chilliwack Mt in the background. Oops, I hope I didn't let out a secret fishing spot. :)
Very nice catch.

ya bottom bouncing is maybe not the purest fishing out there but i hunt my moose, deer and elk with a gun...not a spear. i took one fish and my family will eat it for 7 meals. when i am almost done i may go get another one. besides with 2 inches of visibility in the water how else are you going to catch them? with a net?

anyway if it is open for bottom bouncing i prefer to do that rather then buy a netted commercially caught fish. each to their own i guess.

If you can't catch your own, buying off a commercial fisherman is the next best thing. It supports jobs in the BC economy and is far better than farmed fish. I deliberately avoid eating farmed salmon at restaurants and sushi joints. I know there are some commercial fisherman on this website, and they will know better than me, but over the last 10 years commies have been fishing less and less and still the stocks are declining. There is more to do with the decline in salmon stocks than commercial fishing.

just for the record i agree with you 100%.

however given the choice i would prefer to catch them myself even if it means bottom bouncing.

and i never eat farmed salmon...ever! my 6 year old can spot the difference in a sushi restaurant as easily as i can and they also know not to eat farmed fish...ever!

Nice catch.
Whatever, in the end every fish is pierced by a hook and every game animal is impaled by a projectile of some sort, there is just lots of different ways to deliver them.
Regardless, at the end of the day their final destination is a freezer

If your trying to bottom bounce location is very inportant
fishing gear weight size needs to be heavy enough to feel the boom from top off drift to bootm off drift
Leader length is also very inportant at least 8ft long or better
Corky is very inportant very size & configuration
Hook size is also inportant
real line should be fire line or something equivalant no monofilament as it streches to much to get a good feel of bottm
all this info is available with one quick stop at HUB sports in abby

I was at spagetti bar on June 29 and saw one 15 lb caught and some dude by himself in a small boat hook up three times but lost all of them. Fishing was slow and river high, not to much debris floating down though. Heading back down wednsday will post a report.
