I always thought whitetails were a low land animal hanging around farms . But there is a small herd of wt does hanging around where i am working at 4800 feet in a foot of snow eating fresh pine needles. I guess they are ivolving to live anywhere.

When i lived in Alberta I went hunting for a week up around Nordeg/Rocky Mountain house and thats how it was their. We hunted for Wh. tails/elk all at valley level and would go higher up the ridges for mulies.I know around Merritt and Logan Lake area there are a lot more white tails showing up each year but they all seem to be at the same level as the mulies. Thats where I find those big ones in the higher elevations, hunted mulies for years in this one place all of a sudden whitetails started showing up never thought much of it tell one day we saw a monster, and over the years saw some big ones always alone. I like that because most guys don't go that high for whitetail, less huntin pressure.

We saw some on the west side of the Coq. for the first time this year and they were up fairly high, we even saw a hybrid doe at about the same altitude we got our mulies opening week, around 5000' I want to know how long before they come to reg 2.

We've had white tails moving in for the last while, they're not real numerous but they're here....They've been spotted in the Pemberton valley too, they were never there before. It seems they're adapting to different climates.
