I saw a nice little bull yesterday while on my quad he had about 3 inches of antler on his head, i was just wondering about the growth cycle of the antlers and weather or not this guy would grow beyond immature classification come october. first young bull id seen in a while just got me thinking. sorry i took pics but my little digital at 150 yds dont make much of a picture.

At best, if it ony has 3 inches at this date, it could very well be quite a young bull. Just my opinion but, I would keep an eye on his comings and goings. Just might have found yourself something there.

If you see any sign of a brow tine starting to form, you're probably out of luck. But a couple of little spikes is a good sign. About 40% of first year bulls are legal spike/forks, so the bios tell me.

Having looked at lots of young bull moose in search of a spike/fork over the years, I've found that 90% of the time when you see brow tines, that they have too many points (3s or 4s).

I would say that this moose is going to be a fork spike bull ,a bigger bull he would have bigger growth on his antlers by now ,a few points with Palm antlers showing as of now.
