What is the trophy quality of moose and mountain caribou in management unit 7-38? Any idea what the average shooting distance would be? The reason I ask is I’ve got a Remington CDL in 35whelen that I’ve taken a few animals with and enjoy hunting with. It’s scoped and loaded with 225gr barnes TSXs at 2600fps, I’m going to do some load work this spring and see if I can get another 100fps out of her. So what do you think, would this be a good moose and mountain caribou rifle-bullet combo?

Wow thats the same rifle I want to get befor spring! I have hunted up there a bit not sure on the caribou seen afew, they are there but they are in pockets, and 7-38 is a big region, as for moose there are lots of moose.:-P

How do you find the recoil on that rifle? I have shot my bro-inlaws, its a bdl with a king barrel on it, its fairly light not to bad in the recoil department:grin:

Recoil aint bad at all. The stock design is pretty good and the R3, sims pad, WORKS. I'd buy another CDL or 2...

that caliber has been around and worked for many years and worked well. Your avg shot dist will be around 150-250 yds and it will do just fine.
