Anyone ever heard of a mooses apparent ability to dive to depths of 25' or so? I cant verify this but a co-worker from the Yukon swears hes seen it.

They can definitely dive deep, but I am not sure if 25 feet is true...although that would not surprise me in the least.

Well, I've read that they can go down and stay down for several minutes at a time, and are known to feed on the vegetation at the bottom of lakes - so I'm not all that shocked to hear that they might make 25' down... Don't mean it's true mind ya, just means it sounds plausible to me. :D

On one trip up north there was a cow and calf came to the same spot on the lake near camp every night at the same time, the cow would dip her head underwater for an average of 4 to 5 min each time, the only reason I would doubt the 25' would be because of the bouyancy of the hair and fat, the lungs no problem!!

Thems what you call HIPPOs....actually saw footage years ago of a moose diving down and picking vegetation off the bottom...if memory serves me right that moose going down around 10 to 15 feet....
