Today the Nicola Valley Fish & Game Club held the BC Family Fishing Day at the kinds lake between Kentucky and Aleyne Lake. Despite the cool cloudy weather with the occasional rain and drizzle mixed in we had a tremendous turn out. By the start at 9am we had 59 children and 50 adults registered. At the end of the fishing derby at 2pm over 120 rainbows had been weighed in with the larger ones exceeding 2.5 lbs.

There where plenty of prizes, among it 40 rod and reel combos, for everybody to make sure no child went home empty handed. A great thank you from the organizers, Bill Otway and myself, to all the sponsors, the many volunteers from the Nicola Valley Fish and Game Club, the Conservation officers showing the kids how to clean fish and everybody else that made sure that this years Family Fishing Day has become yet another huge success.

After last weeks mother of all nose bleeds and the following surgery that took me to the edge of needing a blood transfusion I am still feeling weak with the odd dizzy spells, making it uncertain up to the last minute f I could attend this years event. Somehow I managed to get out to the lake with my wife driving me - Thank you Honey - and I am glad I did because I sure had a blast helping the kids get into plenty of fish. What a great day!
