A big Thanks to Mooseknuckler on the sweet set of custom elk handle knives.
two drop point hunters for my boys with 3.5" and 3.75" blades satin finish, sanded firescale, elk handle, and leather sheaths and a very cool little caper for me. :biggrin:

Beautiful knives !

What kinda steel was used? How well do they hold an edge?

Very nice!
My father once had a beautiful knife made by a Swedish blacksmith who worked for Cominco. He made it from a forged and hammered roller bearing.
Then my brother lost it!

The steel is 1080 high carbon (not stainless). So these knives need a little TLC, but they will hold a great edge and aren't too hard to sharpen.
