just rolled in from our Liard grizzly hunt and the Gods were pissing fire on us .:|

We prepared ourselves and our equipment. Only licensed vehicles, no quads allowed so we were equipped and in like flynn and when we got there we find out that the whole MU access is in flames or under high water.

shippmans road was below 6 feet of rageing liard river so that screwed that end (we canoed it) and the airport road which branches off was on fire like the rest of it.

little bit dissapointed , we stayed for as long as we could stand.
Trying every way in we could legally find and it is locked up tighter then a nuns **** .

fire camp says it could be shut for the rest of the month. (still trying to digest it and to stop feeling like i am still in motion from driveing )

On the bright side the hot tubs were really nice.

i will post what pics we have but there isnt much to see cept fire and flood:sad:

My Dease lake grizz draw went the same way a couple years back, never stopped raining.
Roads and bridges flooded, and washed away!
Our trip was a "wash" ya could say!

this is our exploration set up , truck canoe liscenced for highway use MC, dog box (yellow thing) tracking collars etc . We figured we were doing pretty good

then we saw this

http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/liard_Grizz_hunt_spring_2009_104_Small_.jpg

. the park told us of a problem grizz they had and we did cut its track and followed it to which it went into the park so it was no hunting

but funnily enough when Leah went for a stroll with Lucy on lead she came upon an intereseting discovery and and very excitedly got me (I was busy looking over the park map ) .

thats why we call it hunting. I took my boys up north once and all they did was get rained on for two weeks. Bu now a couple of years later they are starting to have good memories of the trip.

Sorry to hear. I live in FSJ and have travelled that road many times and know how quick things can change there. Fires especially. Hopefully next time you will have better luck.
As som many have said, At least you were able to get out there and enjoy some nature.
Good Hunting.

a bit frustrating but nonetheless it was a pretty good road trip .

We had to get a bit more hunting in yesterday afternoon so we loaded up the dogs and went to harisson .

They got on a really nice skittish cinnimon that seemed to treed and ran a few times , after a few hours or crossing creeks and climbing mountains listening to the mountain music from the hounds we figured we should try to get them in as there is no way we could descend to where they were.

after it was silent for a while with the exception of murphs odd frustration bays we called them in with the collars.
They head back to the place we dropped them (so the signals seemed to point out) so we headed back there to meet them.

lucy was the first we saw back at the drop zone waiting, Murphy came out with some calling (guess he didnt want to leave Winnie)and Winnie couldnt be seen but her collar was sending out a loud signal , we found her collapsed about 75 yards below the road.

Got her back to the truck and did what we needed to do and she is busy recuperating.
All the dogs are thrashed today and haveing a hard time moveing but they seem happy enough

Harrisson is rough on the dogs but the dogs sure do enjoy what they are bred for.

I suppose a train wreck was an appropriate send off for the spring bear season 8)
