With danaJr tagging a 7 foot monster last Sunday, today was my turn. It's been a while since I killed anything and my trigger finger has been feeling pretty itchy so I decided this boar would do. He certainly doesn't have the body mass like Cody's bear but he is rather long. 6'6" nose to tail hide off. Skull is 18 8/16 green. Cody was able to get the shot on video which was an added bonus.

Curious as to where your shot went. He was facing you it seems so a side shot was not available. Below the head through the right shoulder???

Hit them a couple of inches below the chin on a facing shot and you'll take out the spine. Do that and you'll drop 'em like a sack of hammers every time!

Good shooting Steve!...and good camera work Cody8)!

Good looking bear! Congrats!

What didn't get caught on film was the fact this bear bailed hard and was pretty much ass disappearing in the timber when I first got on him. I thought he was gone for good but I grabbed my varmit call out of my pocket and blew on it to make a rabbit in distress call. Turned him right around and had him coming towards me with a slightly angled face on shot. The shot took out jugular vein, lungs and right shoulder.

We ain't done having fun yet either. Gonna pick up our 2nd tags and head out on a Father and Son bear camp weekend this coming weekend. We having hit my 'big bear' holes yet. We will this weekend. The rut should be just getting into full swing too with the bg boars roaming. Maybe just maybe we'll whack and stack a couple more.

Posted that video just for you. Road hunting 101. Bears go where the feed is abundant. I've thrown enough grass seed over the years to know that forestry roads are bear magnets.

My very 1st gun was a Parker Hale presentation model in 30-06. I sold it a few years ago because I mostly hunt with a bow now. Seeing yours brought back a lot of memories. Looks like its in excellent shape.
