I was wondering what every one does with there spring bears. I was told you should not eat them because there full of worms. And if you get one to late in the spring the hide is all rubbed a looks like poo. i need to find a good reason to tell the wife so she will let me go next year.

I have never had a problem eating a spring bear. I don't hunt for the hide so rubbing doesn't bother me. Mike

False, if a bear has worms it has worms the rest of it's life...they don't go away...unless it has a good Vet.
Maybe I'm wrong?

I have eaten spring bears a lot.....never had any issues.

I enjoy the meat for roast, burger, and sausage.....very good for those uses!

Bear meat is great for roasts, jerky, corning, burger, salami, sausage, pepperoni and smokies. Not to mention the fat is great for making pastries.
The worms are no big deal. I've caught many lingcod and halibut that had worms and we all know, they are more than edible, they are delicious!
I live on Vancouver Island, and have seen few bears with bad hides in the spring. This year especially, one bear with a bad hide out of many.
Go and hunt them man. Not only is it an exciting hunt but they are great table fair as well.

Bear meat is great for everything. I think almost all creatures great and small have worms at one point or another in there life.

Bear currie is a crowd pleaser. I also cook it up and freeze it in portions for dog food.
