Last Fri/Sat my son, "Dutchie" and myself went out for an overnight hunt for our first black bear-- we have seen many in the past, but whether we were too slow, noisey,or whatever ,we have not been able to get a shot off.
Sat morning, after dealing with a punctured tire--bad rocks-- and getting back into the bush we saw this fellow

then we saw this crawling into a drainage culvert

Later in the day around noon we startled this up a tree ( here's blackie)

with the final result http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

I would like to send extra kudo's and thanks to "Steelco" and his family for his assistance with processing our animal--he gave us the lowdown on easiest ways to gut, skin and quarter blackie--very knowlegable and tremendous person-- his wonderful family almost seemed to adopt us--thanks for the burger etc. hope to be able to do the same for them or others in the future. http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

nope Goose was sitting right beside us all the time. We have a little bench set up behind the seats so he is level with us so he can see out the windows too. What he does is rests his head on one of our shoulders I have him conditioned to largebore muzzle report now so he just kills time with us and ever 30 mins to hour we would let him out to run, eat or do a pee.

It was really funny, he was right there when we gutted the bear and was pulling on some hair, sniffing the bear, and then in Steelco's camp he was barking at the skinned bear hide.

and thanks again to Steelco and Buckwheat Lorri and Heather, they all helped us out alot from helping us find the bears to skinning to not letting us leave with empty bellies.
