Well, all I can say is, another family memory has been made this past may long weekend. What an exprience for us all, Grandpa, myself and my son. With the help of a few friends, this typical deer hunting family, got to experince of saying " BEAR DOWN". :-P
The halfway river area was a whole new area to us, 4-31. And to think, we were grizz Hunting, was a new adventure. After a long slug of hiking in snow, quading from clearcut to clearcut and glassing until our eyes were ready to pop out, it finally came to be. We didn't see much for bears except, one very large grizz  on the other side of the valley, which we did try to pursue, but could not get across the river. It was one huge grizzly bear, especially compared to the bull moose,we saw in the same clearcut. But after one evening meal, my son when out on a drive on the quad to a clear cut, he always kept going back to and liking, which was two km up the road from camp. Then, not even a km up the clearcut road, walking along the road, was the grizz he wanted. The radio call back to camp half an hour before dark ,was a thrilling experience. I have had this feeling a few times, as I have two sons, who both love the thrill of the outdoors. But this had to top it all. Especially, to have the first generation of three there, to enjoy the thrill also.
The bear was not to be had that night,as it had run off into the bush, but knowing my son was a good shot, I was feeling confident we would find it in the morning. Not to my son's liking as he wanted to find it that night, but better safe than sorry. So, after a sleepless night for all and up real early at light, off we went. After a good hike straight down about 200yds,there he was. That was the biggest smile I had ever seen on him. What a great experince for all us to see the youngst of three generations take this grizzly bear.
It is not record book bear, but a nicer keeper for his first grizzly bear. matter fact, first for the family. Looks like this boar will measure a little over 6 foot.
Here is some pics of this great hunt;.

Now that's a dream hunt . . . three generations together and a beauty grizz to boot! Congrats to all.

It's great to hear of all the bear hunts this spring. Seems like more grizz going down than previous years. :-D

Congrats on a fine Grizzly Bear. I have hunted G-bears there in the past and know connecting on a bear there is not easy.
