First Bow Kill

For a few years now I have been trying to make a kill with my bow, but it just has never worked out. Last spring I decided a was going to kill a bear with my bow no matter what and I worked pretty hard at it and again it never came together. I committed myself this year once again and the same thing was happening as last year. They all seemed to be either to small or to smart. So I decided to call in the heavies. I got a hold of my good buddy Ambush and told him to come show me how its done.

So, 25 yrd shot, double lung, 30 yard recovery and I had my first bow kill.

I haven't put a tape on him yet (Ambush is a better judge of size than me, maybe he'll throw in his predictions) but he more than fullfulled my hopes of a first bow bear

Congratulations, I was looking forward to taking my first archery bear with my recurve this year but two shoulder dislocations have pretty much ended that thought.

Last year I took up bow hunting and like you am on the same program,didnt get anything with the bow but am determined to get one this year.I have seen a few that would have been easy with a rifle,anyways i hope i can do as well as you on the first one.

Yes he's a beauty bear and Gus pulled off a text book shot. He waited at full draw for the classic broadside, leg forward shot and centre-punched him perfect.

Unless his head is all meat, he should be 19" and will square up at 6' 6".
