So it seems that alot of people I've talked to said they are sticking local this year for bear. This was evident as I stepped out yesterday for my first time this season in search for a local bear. My location was Hope for those wandering.

Anyways, I fell in love with bear hunting last year and I've vowed to help deer populations as best I could by taking down 2 bears every year. This year I took out my youngest brother (17) and all I can say is he's hooked :).

We left home in Poco, on Sat at around 6pm and started hunting by 7:30pm. We covered alot of ground without any luck and light was running out, so we decided to look for a place to camp and try our luck the next morning.

On our way, my brother yells BEAR! (his first time seeing a bear haha). For some reason I usually keep on going if i scare one off an fsr into a bush but this time i pulled over and went for it. There was a side trail parallel to the fsr running into the forest and we waited there for a few minutes. We could hear the bear travelling through the forest and I knew he was about to pop up on the trail. He did, and as soon as he did (broadside) a 30-06 bullet was waiting for it aswell.

Not the biggest bear, but a good meat bear. About the pic haha it makes the bear look huge but i tried dinking around to make it look that way :) He's only 5'9

That's a good bear by any stretch, but I've gotta know how does it look like he's standing up?? Good going btw!!

Do you have any other pictures of the bear, it has a nice color.

BTW I have an '06 just like yours, nice gun :)

The "assuming possition" of the bear was obtained by proping it up on an old abandoned rusty steel structure on the side of that trail.

This was the first time I took my bro out that doesn't hunt but he wants to get his CORE & PAL now.

The bears color appears to be nice, but its dirt (the bear's color is black)! Thing is, I forgot to mention that after the shot he bolted off down into a steep sloped forest and me and my brother had to drag him back to the trail (good thing he only made if 15 yards or it would've been alot harder).
I didn't take too many pics since it was getting dark, but I'll see if I can dig one up.
