Anyone have any ideas what was wrong with this deer. It was standing in an alkali pond and was on its last legs..

That deer is panting for water, it's loaded with ticks and has a tape worm in the form of liver flukes and blisters causing any food to have no nutritional value whatsoever and finally was chased into that area by a couple coyotes in the darkness of the night before. It will pass away and be eatin by birds and scavengers.

Its a cruel world, the little guy could have any number of things wrong with him, doesn't look like ticks to me, I hope he lived like me, like every day was gonna be his last. A deer will go to water to escape predators and will eventually die. A hunter's bullet might not have been that bad.

If it was ticks there would likely be big chunks of hair missing where it's tried to get rid of them. A bullet would be merciful at this point. I hate to see that but that's nature.

The thing looks like its been run ragged and can't take another step forward.
I'll bet the water is the chosen last stop.
The posture could indicate CWD, but physical condition gives no hint of that, besides it should have expired sooner, if it were so. Wonder where that is at?
I think that there could be some STD around, but never CWD, heaven forbid!
