There is no exact science to choosing your LEH picks. sometimes the odds are low due to lack of animals,or there may be lots of animals but access is more difficult. You really have to do your homework to try and maximize your chance of getting a tag but also your chances of filling that tag.Have fun and good luck.

Just treat them like 6-49 tickets, some win some don't.

I am picking ones that are close to home for ease of transport and lodging.

The number of animals does not matter just the odds. If they give out 2 tags and 32 people apply your odds are 16:1. If they give out 10 tags and 160 people apply the odds are still 16:1.

Something to think about is that those odds are also from last year, so the odds can change quite a bit. For example if last year an area had 10 moose tags and only 20 people applied the odds would be listed at 2:1 in this years regs. Well everybody and their dog sees that and thinks the odds are great so 100 people apply for the same 10 tags and are pissed that they did not get a 2:1 hunt when in fact it was actually a 10:1 hunt.

Its a crap shoot so apply where you know the area or where its close so you can make a few trips.

A person can put in for LEH and keep there fingers crossed thats about it.

I don't set my hunts accordingly to the LEH draw ,I set my hunts on GOS for the animals I hunt and if I am lucky enough to get picked for an LEH draw I then will plan my hunt.

Apply for an area where you can maximize your hunting time in that area. LEH's don't come around often for most people so you gotta make it count. That being said, it is still a crap shoot! Moosin

If you really want to go hunting this year with your father you should look for a good area that is WITHIN your driving distance. Look for an area with some general open season, like bucks or imature moose or 3 point bulls. Then put in for your LEH's in that region, during that time. That way, you can start planning your trip now, and will have something to hunt for sure. Any LEH's, no matter the odds will now be a bonus for that hunt! Thats the best way to do it. Some people rely on LEH for thier entire years meat. Thats just crazy when you live in a province this good to hunters. Also make sure that you and father put in for a group draw. It increases your odds of putting meat on the table.

just a suggestion, but try to send the leh by curiour. Some people think that there are antis in the post office that just chuck them as some always seem to never get to the destination.

A crisp 50 dollar bill tucked into the envelope really helps to lessen the odds..Also, use black ink as the blue has never worked for me..

All the advice given here is good, but do you realize that you can only submit one card for moose and one card for mule deer ?? In your example , moose hunt code 4001 or 4025, not both. Mule deer hunt code 7082 or 7083, not both.

Good luck on your draws.

If that were the case then you wouldn't get the NIL letter either. K

I've been looking in the LEH synopsis for the 'HUNT COLD" numbers as it says on the LEH application..... can't find them. All I can find is hunt code numbers.....

I agree with hunter 1947.There's lots of GOS.Best to plan for that.If you get a draw its a bonus.

kennyj you be Jammin, stick with the hunter1947, he knows hunting in B.C. on HBC so you've got a winner to follow -- you made a great choice.
Plan the GOS and the LEH is the bonus -- BAM! -- WINNER -- Big Buck --
