This past Sunday, a buddy and I got our first Blacktail on the west side of Harrison lake. We hunted the snowline. We spotted a doe and watched her for about 5 min. When she was out of our sight, I bleat and grunt called a few times. Then this nice buck came out of the woods slowly looking around to find the who was making those sweet sounds. At 70 yards I passed my buddy my 7 Rem Mag and let him take the shot so that he wouldn't be skunked this year. He knock that big boy down and we then had the hard task of draging him down the mountain to the truck. It took us three hours and every muscle in our bodies to get him down. it must have been huge, considering the size of pictures you needed to capture it.haha.
thats a nice buck keep on hunting.

I love hunting blacktails......nice buck, congrats.

What kind of bleat call do you use real nice deer.

I used a primos "Trophy Grunter" and a primos "The Original Can". Both are easy to use and sound good to me, don't know if the deer think I'm any good. But we called in this buck.

awsome buck!! Glad to see you took him in classic Blacktail habitat. Very sleuthy work with the calls! Beautiful animal,good on yah!! :D

Very nice Blacktail, also real nice of you to let your friend take him. Are there no roads going up that mountain? did you spot him in a clearcut or in the timber?
