well guys the one night i don't make it out my partner heads out with his wife and boy to find a first blacky for his kid and ends up shooting a big griz he spotted him walking down the road a couple of km away so watched him for awhile then made his stock shot him at 90 yds with his 340wby and using 250 tripple shocks dropped in his tracks first shot so he put one more in to make sure he was not going any were.
so he came back into town and my dad lance and I went out to give him a hand we had a hard time moving the bear it was a big one i don't have the pics yet cuz im at work but will post tonight or tomorrow
his scull was 25 1/2
84inches nose-tail
back paw length 12inch
front paw accross 8 inch

this was an old bear had no teath on the front bottem and had a run in with ppl before when i skinned it out for him we found #2 lead shot all under the skin and then when we skinned the head out the next day we found a 22 bullet in the head between the hide and scull

First down, good one too.

Bird shot and a .22 ? Guess he won a couple of battles.
Maybe someone found out these are not suitable defense against bears !!

I am curious how did you know it was #2 shot?
The difference between 4 and 2 is .002 of an inch same between 2 and BB.
Not that it maters really. None of it is bear medicine.
Congrats to your friend,
Waiting for pics.

Great to hear that they are out I just got a report from a friend saying that he hadn't seen any on his hunt and that there was still a lot of snow..

I'm not leaving on my grizzly hunt till this coming weekend I'm hoping the snow and ice on the lakes has started to melt a lot faster so I can get into where I want to camp/hunt/fish...

great bear...it certainly has been out rubbing..kinda surprised at the amount of rub..but that can happen..looks like a great skull..deep dished and the muscle crease on the forehead is very visable..as is the massive shoulders..notice the spread of the ears..they appear to come out from the side of the head..

well done...
