Well, BearSniper zero, Bears one....................
Went out this morning as I just had to get out and see some bush, trees, and rivers.
Haven't been out for a while, too much work and stuff. Thought I'd check an area off the Coquihalla not far from Merritt.
Well wouldn't you know my crap house luck, I spot a big Hog right off the Coq at 0530 hours a.m. munching on green plants, just 5 minutes north of Hope.:-?
Rats. ! :-? he's not even 30 meters from the pavement. Steep slope behind him, pipeline right of way running north south under him, and no chance to hike aroud to scare him into the bush. It would have been a wild goose chase. Seems he knew to be with in the 400 meters of the highway shooting rule.
So I took a few photos as he watched me straight on, and from the corner of his eye. We stared at each other for 10 minutes, and then I moved on.
Oh well , had to pass him up as he just wasn't going to cooperate and move away significantly.
Made it to my destination, no Bear sign, but saw a few deer [mulie & whitetail] , moose scats, and cat sign.
Even though I didn't get him, it was a good day outdoors with plenty of fresh air and scenery.
I'll send my pics to Steelco to post.
If any one else gets this brute, [away from the damn highway] my hats off to ya !
cheers
