My son Alex (15) harvested this bear last Saturday with his new Browning X-bolt 270 short mag 140 barnes TSX. We spotted this bear and stalked within 40 feet before taking the shot, the skull green scores 18.5". A full rug mount is in order as this was his first bear.

I know that bear, I have been hunting it for 3 years. Did it have a scar on it's face?

Nice cinnamon, did you recover the barnes bullet or did it pass through completely? if so could you post a pic of the bullet?

Well done, those brown ones are outdoing the plain old blackies. Roughly where were you in Reg 3?

About 3-4 years ago in the Clinton area there was a a nice cinnamon bear hanging around the farms for a couple years. This was a few years ago so i am sure its not the same bear. Gorgous bear tho!

What MU….Sahali!:-D We spotted the bear and ranged it at 250 yards, the bear was below us, moving down to get a closer look and a good area to shoot from, this became an issue the lower Alex went, as he got down to about the same elevation of the bear he could not see it anymore. There was a knoll before the grassy area and I could see the bear and Alex but they could not see each other, my hunting partner was behind Alex with his 300 Sako at the ready when Alex crested the knoll the bear stood up on his hind feet and looked at my son, Alex kneeled down to shoot but the bear dropped down on all four and out of his sights so he stood back up and the bear was just about to bolt when he dropped him with a shot through the shoulders. And yes now that I think about it was probably 50 feet sorry about the embellishment!! I asked Alex if he got the shakes from excitement when he saw the bear stand up and he no; why! Alex has been hunting with me since he was 6 or 7 and has harvested some nice Muley bucks.
