how is it for sharpness does it hold a edge

the steel is S30V and is 60 on the Rockwell scale , so yes it will hold its edge until the job is done, this particular knife is like a razor blade its so thin, it is meant for caping, i cant see sharpening this puppy for a long time if it is just used to cape out the skull.

this is my first one at this style so its probably going to be a "FreeBee" to someone this year that will use it for its intended purpose. The Blade is really thin up to the tip on this one so i think i will have to make them a little thicker for the "public", and sell them once i get a good report on them.

I am using stuff that is around 1/8th for my capers

ya its about that at that start, Blacktail. then i tapered it a little much to the tip, thats what the one extra file swipe turns out to be when you keep saying just one more should even it up on both sides, then 10 more later it was like whoa thats thin, at least it didnt warp during the heat treating and quenching process.
