Went shedding today....didn't find any sheds though.....I had my eyes on the ground and for some reason my son was looking up into the trees and saw some deer hide hanging up the branches of a tree???....the hide was about 10 feet off the ground and in a tree that was up on a bank about 4 feet from where we were walking....it was 2 patches of hide connected by a 6" strand of sinew...no other signs of kill anywhere...I suspect an eagle dropped the hide there

There pic of the deer was taken with my digital camera held up to my binoculars, and the optical zoom all the way out..the deer was around 400 yards away..it's hard to tell in the picture, but it is a white tail buck with 2" velvet knobs.

That part deer carcase looks like a cat dropped it from above and it hung up on that smaller tree ???.

I'm gonna guess that maybe a trapper was in action there?

Agreed! These can be nasty little buggars. I've found all sorts of interesting animal bits in squirrel caches before...

How high off the ground was it... could there have been snow that deep and it simply was caught in the branches and the snow melted... We get stuff like that on the coast sometimes...

It was around 10 feet off the ground. We were in a river basin and the snow there only got about 2.5 feet deep this winter. It was pretty light weight, a good stiff wind could have blown it there too.

This last week i saw three differnt carcasess in trees. In my case I think it is just sombodies idea of fum or a trapper getting animals into his sets.
