1st bear of the season

I had the oppertunity to get out and look for bears on thursday,so I headed up the Fraser canyon .We looked at quiet a few roads and came across alot of great looking grass with no sign of bear activity.We then thought that we should go up as high as we could get and still have some signs of green.About one hundred feet below the end of the green grass we found our bear, not a real big guy but he taped out at 5-8, we has got a large head for his body.He had been eating the grass in the area but not too much and he had zero in his stomach,should make for good sausage though.I had been looking forward to testing out my new wheathby backcountry and the little 270 win did a great job,the shot was only 95yrds but the 130gr interbond went clean threw the neck smashing the spine as it went,killing the bear instantlly.http://www.hunt101.com/data/506/medium/01442.JPG
