Anyone seeing any Black Bears yet? I have been out twice now down the Blackwater and there have been no sightings yet. Still pretty brown out, and snow in the shady areas. Did see a fox with a Bunny in it's mouth! Moosin

I keep seeing the same little bear out by the highway right by the Salmon Forest Road halfway to Bear Lake. Have seen him about 4 times now in the last two weeks. Drove to McBride and back this morning and didn't see any bears though. Was kind of expecting to see some but only saw a couple of deer.

Have seen a couple around but nothing special; Hixon Powerline is usually the most productive area early.

Saw 7 today, all east of town, but that number is a little inflated as one sighting was a sow with brand new triplets. The first one I saw was a decent boar right beside the highway, but the rest were smaller bears. Also saw nine moose today, including three calves (one set of twins), all looked good and healthy considering the long winter.

I saw ten bears yesterday, with one put on the ground for freezer stock. Nothing too big, one sow with little balls of fuzz with her. This was just on the south side of the blackwater. Allthe bears were in a small stretch of road where the grass was green. Other than that asaw a bunch of deer and moose as well.

Was down the 1400 via telegraph trail, then down the 511 to the blackwater, then down the Tako to the TFL, not one bear, 1 pile of bear shit, and 16 mulies. 1 mulie was a buck with a nice start in velvet. Seen two moose 1 calf never seen its momma, and a cow. Lots of ducks, geese, and a Haron? crane, and a red tailed hawk. Was a good day to get out, got mud on the truck, but no blood on the hands! My sister shot a lot of mega pixels, so maybe I will post a couple of em! If it stays warm it will be hot for bear hunting in the next 7-10 days!! Not very green yet. Moosin

Sorry there are usually a lot of bears down that way when I head out. Maybe just not green enough yet.

Anyone seeing anything up North of town yet? Anyone know if the roads are open around Bear Lake other than the 200Rd?

I'm heading out on thursday to see how far down the North Fraser I can make it. I doubt that it will be passed where they plowed this year (1 km). I drive to Bear Lake every day and there is still quite a bit of snow. The Salmon Forest Road is plowed though and you can make the loop and come back out on Chief Lake Road.
