BC Parks lay off

I read in a nanaimo paper today that the govt. is laying off a bunch of rangers and holding back on hiring seasonal staff. It was a relatively vague article anyone heard anymore?

never read the article but i was taking to a guy would was working at englishman river while the inlaws where in town and he went off about pay cuts instead of layoffs. i do care i just wasn't in the mood that day.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't realize there were that few full time rangers in the province. I do know they contract out a lot of Parks to private contractors and have been doing so for quite a while. This doesn't look good. At least we got some new CO's.
