Just wondering if anyone has travelled between Gang Ranch and the Carpenter lake road. According to the backroad map book it looks like the Gaspard\Churn creek road would be the most direct route, wondering how the roads are like up there and how difficult it is to find the right roads.

Some guys on B.C.4x4.com have a trip report on it.

Sounded rugged, with a lot of clearing and towing each other through though gnarly parts, beaver ponds and the like.

I don't know if it has improved.

Go here and check the 2006 and 2003 "Windy Ridge" trip reports.

Travelled in the gaspard/churn creek area a few times many years ago, but didn't go all the way through to carpenter lake.....as the previous post stated, it was very rough, a good winch, blocks, extra cable etc. was needed.....was not a place for the unprepared, shortly after leaving the gang ranch heading toward gaspard lake was a sign reading 4x4 with winch only, no towing possible beyond this point. Since then the logging companies have put a good road through part of the churn creek area toward big creek from the empire valley area.
