Went on friday to where we have been seeing whiteys all winter. Only had a couple hours as I had to work afternoons. Just after we left the truck we seen a large patch of deer hair but no bones. Made a circle route through the area and spooked up a couple of deer. About 300 yards from the fur we found this.

My buddy had found a mule deer skull (4x3) about a mile further down the road earlier in the week. Made us wonder if wolves were active over the winter or if poachers were out doing a poor job of it.

That doesn't look like it was killed this past winter (its been there at least a year (or two)).

These past few winters have been tough on our deer herds, and the increasing wolf population hasn't helped either.

Yes them antlers with the skull are at last 2 or 3 years old.

Its a wonder that the squirrels have not chewed the antlers being on the ground that long ???.
