Never tasted doe meat before. Obviously they are not in the rut so I would assume they dont taste as gamey.

Any comments???

Female species are always the best tasting game animal you can eat http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif.

Does typically are very good eating, especially yearling does. I got a buck and a doe last year within a 1/4 mile of each other and in the same week, and the young buck is better eating than the doe.

Usually more tender, and usually less gamey. However, like any meat, it all depends on how well you look after your meat after harvest.

If you have properly field dressed your harvested animal, and kept it at ideal temperatures for transporting, and proper butchering and freezer care is taken, all game meats should be wonderful eating.

Most people who say they do not like game meats because they find it to gamey or wild tasting, is the person who prepared the meat didn't prepare it well or doesn't really know how to cook it

A doe in the most part would be more tender and sweet, as that is just how us females are:oops::smile:

I got a doe last year (120lbs hanging) in the coquihalla region on an LEH draw, best game ive ever eaten. I can cut the roasts with a fork no joke. But if your looking for a butcher go to sumas meats, there excellent there and make amazing sausage

Fawn is much, much better than any tough, old, rank doe.

A fawn is born in end of May so June, July, August, Seprtember, October november six months old -- those are the best eating -- tender and tastey -
But not too big at all -- A yearling is 18 months and can be tops too --
Doe make for real good meat loafs -- your taste buds will be doing a tap dance on your tung -- garlic, lemon juice, onions, Montreal pepper, a little oregano--a couple strips of crispy bacon you'll be spittin and grinnin--
It's five o'clock somewhere -- Ice cold wobbly -- Steak fries and gravy-BAM!
Jelly-Venison meat loaf -- sauteed mushrooms--dripping on top--

All deer can be the same taste. I have just found the does to be a little more tender.
No Ali, that is meant tender in regards to cutting with a knife or fork. Mike
