He use to love being in the bush retrieving grouse and swimminghttp://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/hunterofthedeer/HOMEPICTURES127.jpg

He still like to be outside but we have to get our own grouse and doesnt do much for swimminghttp://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/hunterofthedeer/HOMEPICTURES094.jpg

They EARN that nice comfy spot to retire in , not like a cat.
Keep the old boy happy he's EARNED it :-)

There is no dog, like an old hunting dog. They have a certain dignity that comes from years of doing what they were meant to.

Thanks for the pic.

Everybody keeps telling us to put him down but he doesnt whine, limp or anything. He still runs out back with my brother and I for hours on end. He wont stop walking for the whole seven hours

Ive got an older dog that is getting on and cant handle the days afield that she used to,and she has certainly earned her spot if front of the wood stove or is it the couch or MY bed or where ever she decides to stretch out.It is a solem time when you have to leave your favorite hunting partner at home when they reach that point in life.

If he is not in pain, why put him down. Enjoy him in this stage of his life. Looks like a great boy enjoying his pension.:-)
