I am thinking of trying out digiscoping. I have an ATS-80 Swarovski scope, and a canon point and click digital camera. My thoughts were trying out these ones here http://www.zen-ray.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=235

Any thoughts? I found them both on ebay and they were under $100 each. The $400 swaro one is a bit overkill, unless it works miracles.

I thought digiscoping had something to do with a rectal exam.

Oh pardon me, that's digit scoping.

Hey that's a great idea.

I've tried many times to get a photo through the binoculars or scope while holding one in each hand.

Not easily done.

I like this. I just might try it.

Thanks for posting.

Vortex also make a great adapter, some good points on size, weight, and ease of use. And cost.
I have one on order from Grouse River, ~$75.00.

Does the vortex go to 55mm wide? Thats the diameter of my scope. Personally I like that style better than the one that attaches to the tripod.

Large fits 43-65 mm.
Small fits 28-45 mm.

How does it work with compact spotters, like say, a Leupold compact or a Bushnell compact. The eye pieces on them are different than a convential spotter.

Dirty I ahve used the adapter on a leupy 20X50 compact scope and it will work but not as well as on the bigger scopes.Just enough ocular lense room to get the adapter on but I would'nt trust the set up farther than my truck or the side of the road.RB

Hmm, that looks interesting. What are those puppies worth in Canada?

I was looking at the design of them and they are fairly simple, if a guy was so inclined, he could probably weld one up add a few adjustment bolts, and a bolt to secure the camera and be laughing. I might even give it a go. I could probably build one for less than $10 using scrap materials.

Dirty, fabbing one would allow for a custom fit to a particular camera, too. The universality means there is a larger than needed range of adjustment, and extra bulk, something I may look at changing on the one I get.

I use a Swarovski 60mm with their adapter to a canon A95, amazing picture quality 60-180 zoom is pretty nice too!

With a bit of practise you can get quite good at taking pics through the spotter with just holding the camera up to the eye piece. The trick I found is playing with the zoom of the camera to get rid of the black circle around the eyepeice (in photos).

This pic was taken from about 25-30 meters with a basic digital camera and a bushnell spacemaster spotter.

With playing with the cameras zoom I got this picture.

I also found that I get better pics if I put the camera setting on Macro mode as the camera is focusing on the lens and not the image.
