Hey Everyone,

I guess there a many members out there still having a difficult time resizing and posting pictures onto Huntingbc.ca. Here is simple step-by-step guide on how I do it using the Image Resizer Utility from Microsoft and the Photobucket picture hosting website.

First do yourself a favor and download and install the Image Resizer Utility, you can get it here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

1) Once it's installed, simply open the folder on your computer where you have the picture you wish to resize. Here for example I opened a folder called 'Vancouver' where I have one picture. Placing the mouse-pointer onto the thumbnail, you can see in the little box that pops up that this picture is 6.57Mb in size!

2) To resize the picture, simply right-click on it, and choose from the menu that pops up "Resize Pictures":

3) Now after choosing "Resize Pictures," a small window will pop up asking you to what size you wish to resize your picture to. Here I chose "Large," and clicked "OK":

4) Now if you've done the above steps correctly, a new file will be created in the folder, with the size you specified (the size will be in brackets). Now, hovering over the thumbnail with your mouse-pointer you can see that the new file size is now only 68.8Kb!

This is a huge reduction, but the file quality remains excellent (for web posting). So there you have it, picture is resized and ready to be uploaded to Photobucket.com

Again, do yourself a favor and open up a free account at Photobucket.com (http://register.photobucket.com/). Once you have the account open, follow the following steps to upload photos.

1) Log into Photobucket, and click on the "My Albums" tab on the top left. In the section of the page where it says "Upload Images & Video," click on the "Choose Files" button. Next, choose the picture on your computer that you wish to upload and click "OK":

2) Once you've uploaded your picture, you will be taken to the next page where it gives you the option to give your picture a Title, type in a Description, etc. This step is optional, so you can skip it if you want. Either way, next click on "Return to Album":

3) Next you will be taken back to your album where you should be able to see a thumbnail of the picture you just uploaded. You now need to copy the "Direct Link" of this picture. To do this, simply hover with your mouse-pointer over your thumbnail image - a small window below will pop-up: now move your mouse pointer down into the box that says "Direct Link" and left-click in it....this should copy the link into your computer's memory (or you can highlight the entire address and then press CTRL + C on your keyboard):

4) Now, when you're visiting HuntingBC.ca and wish to post a picture(s), just do what you normally do to post a message. From the message menu, choose the "Insert Image" button (looks like a mountain with a sun):

5) Next, a small windown will pop up asking you to enter the URL (Direct Link) to the picture you wish to upload. You can now simply right-click into this space, and from the menu choose "Paste" (or you can press CTRL + V on your keyboard). This should paste the link you copied previously. Press OK:

6) If everything went well, your picture should now magically be included into the body of your message.... I would recommend that you "Preview" your message to make sure it looks like it's supposed to prior to you clicking "Submit"...

7) YOU'RE DONE! Give yourself a pat on the back!

Hope this helps a bit...
