First Ram Back from Taxidermist

On Friday I picked up my 2007 Stone Sheep. This is my first ram and was taken on August 1st of the 2007 season. That trip was my 9th attempt at a sheep and I finally connected. The trip before I got sheep fever and missed a shot at one in the same area. Taxidermy work was done by Rocky Mountain Taxidermy in Pouce Coupe.

This trip it all came together. We got up there a couple days before the season and put this guy to bed in a small drainage less then a kilometer from camp the night before the season opener. In the morning, I opened the tent and couldn't believe what I saw. He was working his way towards us as he was making his way to the bottom of the basin to feed. At that point he was only about 165 yards. By the time we verified it was the legal one from the night before and I grabbed my gun and bullets, he was even closer. Amazing how it all comes together sometimes.

We took care of him and moved camp several miles and started looking for another ram for my partner. Afer finding some other legal rams over the next few days, my partner was able to connect on one 4 days later after a full day of stalking and waiting the ram out.
