i used to live just outside nelson in 2002 you can always fish where the rivers hit the water. try coffee creek . i don;t know the regs anymore but i have caught some nice fish from there just letting the river take out my bobber and i remember a nice dolly on a croc once. i 'm not a pro though

There is a lot of small lakes in the area as well as rivers, like the Kootenay and Columbia and many creeks. You can also rent boats for the Kootenay lake fishing.

Fish range from rainbow, dollyvarden, eastern brook and brook trout, Kokanee, walleye, bass, pearch and whitefish and more within 50 to 80 miles from Nelson.

You don't need a boat to really enjoy yourself. You don't have to travel more than a few minutes to cast a line.

Depends what kind of fishing you want to do and how much time you have. Off the rocks at 17 mile is always good. Fly fish (from shore) the Slocan pool downstream is good if there is a hatch.

Or head up to Six mile lakes. 4 lakes. All good. 10km out of Nelson.

off shore from the rocks just north of the bridge just before you get to Nelson from the Castlegar side. There is a pullout on the highway and its about a 3 min walk to the water.......great rainbows
