Put this one up with Rudy Burger and Cookie. This was Cookies first lion, although she was fired up she really did not make much noise. Any ideas from you hounddoggers to get her talking more would be great. Other then that I thought she did well for 10 months.

Being that this cat was a young female she was left to run another day. Although sometimes it is tempting to shoot em as this was treed in my favorite deer spot. I live near Tatla Lake, 2 1/2 hrs west of WL

Yes all my dogs are quiet on the track ,but at the tree, this is a first for me. do you think she may open up with more experiance? Quiet on the track I think is a good trait in wolf country.

Nice pics, love that one of Cookie jumping up the tree. What breed are those dogs?

intersting enough the first tree I was ever under the dogs were not treeing much.........and the blue dog had more experience than most ever will.

but bill pointed out to me why.......it was how the scent was drifting away from the tree and also how the lion came to be on the tree.

I have noticed since that somtimes my dogs have treed hard and somtimes not so much and it didn't really matter whether the cougar was easy to see or not.....it was more the scent and how it layed itself down from the tree.........

somtimes the dog doesn't really trust it's eyes.

maybe maybe not why but it is somthing I have noticed .

I have noticed sometimes my dogs trail silent when running with other dogs as well on tree.I take this to be running with strange dogs

i had a Walker hound that was top notch if ran with my dogs only but if I ran her with another guys hounds she would run the track hard but never made a noise, even sat about 20 feet off the tree and watched the cat. this is not the case with Cookie She knows these dogs well and has hunted lynx before with them and she did the same thing. A few barks here and there but that was it, even though she really kept an eye on that cat and was pumped to be there. Maybe a few more trees will do the trick.
