Just wonderen if you can use your a quad as a generator this way. Obviously your quad has to be 12 volt but will it charge enough ( while rinning to a keep 1500 watt inverter going? I thought this might be good idea for our hunting camp instead of packing the ol' genny

not knowing which quad or the out put I would still say no, the small batteries on your bike is not big enough to power a 1500 watt inverter under 1/2 load would suck it dry in no time

I tried running my reciprocating saw off the inverter on my 700 Grizzly and YES it does not work! would be handy though hey if it did.

a 1500watt inverter running max will draw over 125 amps off of you battery. So if you have a large deep cycle and a large truck alternator on the quad you should be good to go.

replacing the "Stator", yeh "Stator" I dont mean the starter!. and the Stator and the Field windings on your quads will cost you huge! maybe as high as $1000 for parts and labour, the charging system on Quads, atv's is a frail low voltage system, barley enough to keep the battery charged run the lights! dont over do it!

:!: No Kapow, a quad's weak charging system and small battery will not operate an inverter...use your truck...

I was quoted close to $700, as I remember, two years ago for the stator only, for older Big Bear.
Got a non Yamaha from the states, something like $300, delivered to my door, in fantastic fast time. Put it in myself and it has been perfect.
If you want the address, PM me.

could you charge a deepcycle with the quad andhook the inverter up to that? quad>deepcycle>inverter

you will be maxing out the charging system, the inverter will draw more power than your charging system will put out, thus drawing your battery down and more than likley smoking your regulator. In short DON'T use your quad to charge batteries hooked to an inverter. I'm gussing your charging system puts out 10 to 15 amps, it will take a 100 amp alt 2 hrs to bring a group 31 battery back up to 12.8 -13.2 after the inverter has shut down when the battery has dropped below 11.5 volts

For what it is worth just pack the generator with you.

Pull yer head out. That ole coleman 2stroke is all you'll ever need.

It's a factory option on some quads ... ER Toyota tacomas! But even they are only 400 watts! No siree, a quad will NOT run a 1500 watt invertor!

Your quad will run a small 300w inverter, thats it. Enough to charge your phone, charge a laptop, or other small crap like that. But then again, why would you carry that on a quad?

If you need power that badly I would second a 2 stroke geny as well. LR
