I've always had the best luck in the afternoon to evening...basically when the sun starts to hit those hillsides. It's the best if it storms in the morning, then clears up in the afternoon.

On the beach - in the late morning, early afternoon, when you get a good tide with those times.

Cutblocks - from 3 pm onwards, especially if it has been a hot day.

From noon on if you want to see them, any time if you're running hounds.

With out question the last hour of daylight is prime time. I've only been involved in 3 or 4 bears being taken during the morning or mid-day.
Hey Dan-Floris remember the lucky one in the cut block in the early afternoon? Too bad you had to boom it eh!

Afternoons and evenings are the best, but I've seen bears at all hours.

The areas I've hunted I notice them out at about 10:00 am till almost noon for a late morning snack, then into the bush through the hottest part of the day and then back out around 3 till dark. During the rut it seems that anytime after 10:00 am can be good. Later hours are undoubtedly better. This timing changes a little throughout the season and is dependant a little on the weather.

I think it's more to do with temperature and humidity. Bears are very much like human in many ways.

I shot more bears between 10am and 1pm than any other time, however I never woke up until 9am most times  Late evening is probably the best for sightings especially when road hunting 8)

For me around 9am till noon ,then 6pm till you loose shooting light.

I have found out over the years that I see more bears just before dark then any other time during daylight hours.

No experience with grizz but with black bears I find I see more of the really big boars last half hour before dark.

All other sizes I spot all day long. I have shot bears pretty much every part of the day in spring and fall....

Be in you spot you intend to hunt around 4:30 pm untill dark on sunny warm spring days.when the sun is heading down and the air begins to cool it's briun time.On those cooler overcast or rainy days any time is bruin time. One mistake you can make is covering some good feeding areas with fresh bear scat around and then leaving after an hour for a different spot. Spend the hole time between 4:30 and dark in that prime spot just glassing and covering ground with vantage points. The bear is there it just takes "patieance".
