I want to buy a fishing rod and reel for rainbow trout. I would like to get a 9-10 foot rod and a level wind reel. i want it for fairly large fish [15 pounds]I dont want to spend to much on this, around $200. does anybody know a good sport shop where i can get these.

15 pd rainbows dont grow on trees;) should be able to pick up a como rod with levelwind at most sports shops for around 200$

in my opinion, unless you are flyfishing, a 9-10ft rainbow trout rod is far to big.

get a 7ft med action trout rod, and put a small levelwind or spinning reel on it. that will be sufficient for 15lb fish. if you will be mostly casting, get the spinning reel. if you will be trolling big lakes, get the level wind. if you are trolling small lakes and casting, get the spinning reel.


if you plan on trolling big gang trolls or something, you might want to get a med-hev rod.

for most lake purposes casting or trolling for 5lb rbt, a 7ft med rod and spinning combo is your best bet. and it will cost you well under $200.
