so a few weeks ago i seen some lynx tracks in my proporty. and my neibor actually saw it close up, this morning i went to my barn which is open fronted to park a new sled and i had to move a small ally boat to make room and found the lynx dead and frozen in some hay . it has a wound on its side which could be a bite or a trap wound or maybe a gun shot wound?i think its been dead for some time as its eyes are very sunk in and its body is very flat. im gona call the co on monday, the weather has been very cold lately so im hopeing the pelt is in good shape. and that im allowed to keep it!

If it has been shot they won't let you keep it unless there is an open season and you have a tag.
I found a Red tailed Hawk hanging from the top of a 50ft tree a few years ago so I retrieved it and wanted to get it mounted.
I had to have it inspected to get a permit to keep it. The CO said if there is any evidence it had been shot with a gun or bow I couldn't keep it.

I'm sure there will be someone blasting me for this, but here goes...

If you wanted to keep it why the hell didn't you just keep it, and keep your mouth shut?

Depending on who your question is directed too will probably determine if you get blasted or not, LOL.
If you are talking about keeping the Lynx, in case you didn't know it is illegal to possess dead wildlife without proper documentation. Or so I believe.

Exactly what "paper-work" is anybody talking about other than a cancelled tag???? Lynx is a compulsory REPORTING species....good luck receiving any documentation that anybody recieved your reporting card...maybe but unlikely. As far as whether you can keep it or not......
The rule officially is:

1. You could get a permit for it if it is deemed worth less than $200; more than that and its supposed to be confiscated and then sold in the gov't auction taking place in PG soon....now don't be a nerd and copy the permit page and post it to show me......they just haven't bother to change the form...probably because it might be listed in the wildlife act and require some effort to change Properly.
2. As far as punching a tag....not supposed to....doesn't all into taking the wildlife using an "acceptable hunting method" or whatever the exact wording is. I would recommend NEVER bring in a sheep pick-up and think that just because you'll punch your tag that they'll give it to you.......they will be confiscated and nobody will give a crap that you lugged them out on your back. I've heard of some people claiming to have gotten some lately this way....but I suspect they're either a. fibbing about getting a permit or b. friends with somebody who bent the rules.

Do you have to pay for the permit?

Didn't feel like looking it up but after the " I've never had to pay" etc. comment here it is....if you have not "ever" paid...probably consider yourself lucky that somebody wasn't following protocol.

the actual form is PDF but heres the page to go to:

Well I stand corrected just checked my last permit and it was back in 05 and it was actually from Alberta, last B.C. permit 02
guess things have changed the permit charge doesn't really seem out of line considering the prices some people will pay for such species but once again our government sticking it to us again for just doing the right thing.
Thanks for that. Kgriz
