when you and your friends are out for a multi-day/week hunt, what do you bring along for shelter? my brother and I are planning a 2 week trip come season and I'm debating what we should get for a tent...

everyone has an opinion and there is a place for all types of shelters from tents to campers to trailers. if you plan on doing hunting trips for many years to come you might like to invest in a nice wall tent. with a small woodstove they are very comfy and lightweight compared to a camper or trailer. if you can find one second hand and split the cost with a close hunting partner you will be all set.

If circumstances allow, l like my comforts :). A guy can put up with a lot of foul weather if you have a warm dry camp. There are many kinds from home made to commercial rigs and they all seem to do the trick. For a two week trip, a wall tent would work well.....

We use a 14X16 Wall Tent. That is what I would reccommend as you did ask..."what tent", However, splurge and make sure you get the 5' walls. We usually have 5 guys in the tent so if there's only 2 of you a 12X14 should be more than big enough for supplies/firewood/equipment(table during storms).

We use wall tents as well and we extend a kitcen out 14 ft in front so that the tent is14 x28 ,and we have a 8 gallon hot water bucket sitting on the wood stove

Well it ranges from Bivy's on up. You really have to have a bunch of different types for every situation your going to encounter. None the least, if your not packing in, nothing beats a wall tent....or three

Bears luv'em....LOL. Don't forget to buy good tent pegs as it can be a little hard to pound them into the frozen ground.

just for fun

a bit ago someone PM'd me about a company that sells wall tents. I deleted all my inbox correspondence as most of it was chaff and then realized afterwards I didn't keep yours. if you see this, please PM me again. my tax return is big enough that I'll be able to buy a tent and I want to consider all my options.

btw guys, who here knows anything about Montana Canvas? they don't seem to have a website, so I can't find any information about them. :(

Have you tried HBC sponsor Deluxe Wall Tents on the site, they have a very good selection.
