Leupold binos

Anybody had any experience with the leupold dual power binos. I was thinking that the 10/17 power model might be a good option for alpine hunting, allowing me to ditch the spotting scope and tripod when weight and space becomes an issue. Good or bad, what are your thoughts?

I have tried similar ones before, not Leupold though. My impression was not favorable and I carry a pair of Leupold 10X32's as well as a spotting scope.

There is another Switch power bino on the market? Keep in mind that the Leupies are not zoom, they are fixed 2 power 10x and 17x.
