So dad and I are planning on doing a 7 day sheep/goat hunt in august for my "graduation trip". Now that gr.12 is done it's time to concentrate on the things that really matter! We have been looking at 7-52 which is north of fort nelson, and have also been looking at 7-19 which is south of FN. Main objective is sheep but would also like to time it with goats as well. Not looking for spots, but general knowledge on areas. Thanks for any replies

plan for more days the outfitters who have the advantage of horses planes and area knowledge book 10-14 day hunts and thats just for 1 sheep.

In 7-19 goats are all on draw and the hids are not all that nice up here in august. Got a boat or would you fly in to 7-52?

Thank YJ. We do have a boat, 13 ft lund? not sure if that is big enough. And we we're possibly thinking about flying in. Can't drive in?

Definatly not small boat country takes many hours and a lot of fuel to jetboat to sheep country up there fly in to one of the lakes and hike hard go for 10 days because 3to4 days will be write offs because of weather problems goat hunting should be good and not a lot of pressure seeing everyone is more focused on the sheep.

Seven days is short. Ten is better.

IMO, seven days is too short for a sheep/goat combo. If that is all the time you have focus on one animal and fly into an area. My last sheep hunt was 12 days with sucess coming on the 10th day. My partner managed a miss on another on the 8th day.

But on the other hand, you cannot have it all and having a planned hunt with your dad will create memories that will last a lifetime. I'm envious. Good luck.
