My son-in-law phoned early this aftrenon to see if I wanted to go rabbit hunting. I used to do a lot of it in the winter when I had dogs several years ago.

So I grabbed my bow and snowshoes and away we went. Well two hours and one $10 carbon arrow later I have a hare for supper. I removed the back legs and the back in the bush.

I dredged the pieces in flour and a few spices then browned them in hot olive oil.

When the pieces had browned, I reduced the heat, added some water, cracked a beer and poured in a third of that. I'm now drinking the rest of the beer and waiting for the rabbit to be done simmering.

Life is good at the top of the food chain!!

Back end of Cranbrook Hill. Any where there is tight cover, which is usually close to roads and trails. If you use a gun make sure you're out of city limits.

With really fresh snow, I find it easy to track them untill they let you catch up. Otherwise the last hour of light is great.

A day like today when it's cold and sunny, they will sit in the sun out of the wind.

Take along a few predator calls, and you never know what you may come up with.

i was going to do that today but the wind is a lil too much for me. Last time i was out i came across an eagle eating a freshly caught rabbit, as i got closer the eagle flew away. I checked out the rabbit- the hinds were getting eaten first, then i left it for the eagle to return to eat.
