Got up early today, but when you live in Victoria you still have a ways to travel to get where you're going. I got there about 8 AM, well after sunrise, and hunted untill 12 noon by myself. I still can't believe that I missed some of those geese which look so huge in the air but I did. Here are the four that I did bring down. I got them with the last four shots, including a nice double. I was shooting some of those Winchester non toxic Extreme shells for the first time. I wasn't sure what the lead was at first, but soon figured it out and these ones went down really hard, and I mean really hard. I was using 3" B's. There's only a few days left and I hope to get out again.

I recognise that goose, second from the left.
Do not worry I will not give up your spot?????

Great looking pile of geese. Do you bring your dogs along to retrieve the geese, or are they too heavy for tollers?

I did not bring my dogs along. The geese are too big for the female for land retreives, although I have had her swim down and retreive wounded geese on water. The male pup started to have an issue with gun noise on his last hunt so I stopped bringing him until I can get him over it as I do not want to make it into a big problem. The geese weighed up to 11.6 lbs on my fishing scale.

The big resident geese can be awkward even for a big chessie at times. I've seen Marshall make stops to try and get a better grip on the birds before he started back again. It's 10 times easier for them on water as most geese float. They just have to be able to push them along in front of them.

Looks like you had a good shoot. Seems like a lot of birds are being shot this year and not everyone hunting them are members of the site. Might make it a bit more enjoyable for the kids playing soccer and football this summer.
