Were you disappointed when you got to the deer and it was 6 points only on one side? It's still a nice deer... Are you planning to stuff it? It'll make a good story! I would still shoot it and probably stuff it!

nah its all good what more could you ask for - he was in great shape, not stinky at all but dumb luvin look in his eyes. I will mount the rack but not a full mount - wifey not to keen on those so I may be able to sneak the rack into the room.

No not at all - I was quite surprised - glands were little stinky but not to much more then usual - was in real good shape.

Thanks guys - happy trails and straight shooting.

MadDawg... I have seen antlers like that before. Its about a 95% chance that some years ago he was wounded on the left side of his body. One buck in particular I shot, I butchered it myself completely. Upon taking the meat off the shoulder bones I realized something unbeleivable. He had apparently been shot in the (front:smile: )shoulder before. About 2 inches of one of his shoulder bones was missing, but the bone had fused back together and completely healed. There was much calcification around where the bone had fused, but it was all back in working order. The mal-formed antler was on the opposite side of his body. I figgered whoever shot him must have tried a head-on bow shot and pulled it to the side. There was no damage to the ribs anywhere. Maybe have a look at your deer's bones and see what you find.... Nice buck! I wish something like that would walk out in front of me. Actually I'll take anything with antlers longer than 2" right now.....didn't fill the moose draw.
