The guys in the old days were tough & fearless. Also scroll down to see Eskimo Hunters 1949. (19.5 min.)(rare & extraordinary films)

Alaskan Adventures (silent film 33min.)
In 1922 and 1923 Arthur H. Young traveled to Alaska accompanied by cameraman Jack Robertson. Neither carried a firearm, relying solely upon Young's osage longbow for protection. Young took mountain sheep, mountain goat, moose and an Alaskan brown bear on Kodiak Island. Many of these hunts were captured on film and later released under the title Alaskan Adventure.

Fred Bear- In 1927 he saw the bowhunting film Alaskan Adventures, which changed Fred forever. He met Arthur H. Young, and they spent time in Fred's basement where he learned how to make bows, arrows and bowstrings.

Wow! I just watched the entire thing, that was amazing.
I cannot fathom what an amazing adventure that must have been, nor the hardships those men must have endured...

Very cool.

I'm going to bump the tread up.After burying his mother nine months earlier, a client of the local mortuary finally had enough money to purchase the expensive coffin he'd originally wanted. So we exhumed the body and transferred his deceased mother into the new steel casket. "What's so special about this coffin?" I asked the funeral director. He replied, "It has a lifetime warranty."--------------dvd copy (http://www.dvdsoftonline.com/products/DVD_Copy.html),--------dvd ripper (http://www.dvdsoftonline.com/products/DVD_Ripper.html), ------------------dvd to ipod (http://www.dvdsoftonline.com/products/DVD_to_ipod.html),----------------dvd ripper (http://www.mydvdsoft.com/products/DVD_Ripper.html),-------------------dvd software (http://www.mydvdsoft.com/products/DVD_Software.html),-----------

Great videos and pictures and none of the hunters used a 300 mag. or a short high-speed bow with light carbon arrows, yet they harvested game too. Last year I wrote an award-winning article about hunting then and now. This video brings you back to basics and what hunting really is all about. Skill, perseverance and endurance.

[quote=huntwriter;429850]. Last year I wrote an award-winning article about hunting then and now.
Sounds interesting. Was the article for a newspaper, outdoors magazine,....? Any links??Would like to read it.Thanks.

The articel was published in Water n' Woods in 2007. The article is about how hunting technology has changed from when I was a child and how modern hunters seem to relay more on science then compared to the skill of the generations before us. Here is the link (http://www.othmarvohringer.com/articles/The_Science_of_Hunting_and_The_Good_Old_Days.html) . Enjoy.
