Just have a question regarding reg5 around the 100mile -108 mile house area. I was up there in sept doing some early season mulie hunting and came across alot of predator signs. There were several spots we found that had half pulled apart deer, a few cows and even 2 black bear skeletons, completely in tacked with fur everywhere. we also found an area no more then 400m away from the two bear skeletons that had lots of old bones everywhere. The deer were far and few between. It was quite an ery feeling we got around there. We found a nice valley down by a lake, with lots of bedding signs and tones of tracks, with lots of moose and deer crap. We sat on it for 2 days and nothing was around. Just curious if anyone knows much detail about the situation up and around that area. The strange thing throughout all of this is that we didnt see any wolves, cougars, yotes.... nothing. It didnt look like the sign of a poacher either.

Any thoughts or fist hand knowledge???

Possibly MOT or local road maintenance getting rid of roadkill?

Is there a farm close by as it sounds like a bone yard.

For one thing you wont just see wolves and cougars, I grew up in that hood and have played in the bush all my life, ive only seen 1 of each!
Not sure why all the skeletons were there but there is alot of wolves in them parts nowadays!

A pack of wolves will pull a bear out of its den.

"it didn't look look like the sign of a poacher"?what kind of sign do they leave? ....."I did this".If there is bones, fur,it could easily be a poacher.Once anything is dead on the gorund, the other critters will drag it around.

They've been seeing more preds around there in the past few years (esp. wolves) but nothing way out of the ordinary.

Yeah and the wolves will crunch the bones to bits.

Doesn't sound like predators.....sounds like you found the local guide outfitter dumping ground or the ministry of transport roadkill disposal site.

As has been pointed out, it appears to be a Dept of Highways dumping ground for road kill.
As also pointed out, wolves don't leave bones.

poachers will kill bears and leave everything but the gall bladder.
