I was hoping to post this earlier put do to the server being down was unable. This was posted on the Ministry website today and may affect a few of you out there, seems relatively minor but some may want to change their mind as a result:

"The number of authorizations for the spring 2009 Grizzly Bear hunt in Management Units 4-01 (hunt code 3102) and 4-02 (hunt code 3103) has been decreased from 9 to 7 and 14 to 7 respectively. The number of authorizations in Management Units 4-22 (hunt code 3111) and 4-23 (hunt codes 3112 to 3114) has been increased from 4 to 5 and 4 to 12 respectively. If you are directly affected by these changes and wish to change your application you may call (250) 356-5142 on or before February 11th, 2009."

'Bout time they had more draws in 4-23. "Infestation" is an understatement:roll:.

Ya, that's interesting that they made those changes this late in the draw.
I hit the calculator and tallied the total LEH authorizations with the new changes. 9 were withdrawn from 4-01 and 4-02 and 9 were added to 4-22 and 4-23. Spring Grizzly total LEH's = 1471

That's a great number with good odds for the average hunter. How many other jurisdictions can claim this!
Cheers:D

Hard to believe that they would drop the number of tags in either 4-01 or 4-02. Having lived and worked in those mus for many years ( yes lived) I saw alot of griz. I hunted 4-23 and 4-22 this year and in years past and yes they are both infested with them and can most certainly handle they increased tags, however in the spring alot of the good areas are accesible. This is the reason that I believe the flathead mu's were dropped. When I was there the hunters loved it when we would plow out the ram crk fsr as it allowed them really early access to some great area's, however not many were taken and those that were seemed to be juviniles. One of the outfitters in that area was a friend and while I was there never did connect on a griz (others did though). Good luck to anyone that was fortunate enough to get a draw, with a little time in the last part of the season you should be able to get on some good bears.
