Figured why not start a thread where we can look at some grizzlies, dead or alive, while we all wait in anticipation for the draw results.

Never seen one alive or dead, but draw is in and I AM getting drawn this year. Looking forward to where this thread goes! Tell your stories too!

Here is my one and only Gbear from back in 2000.
That hunt was one of the most memorable of any I have been on. I was really out of shape back then (lost 100lbs since), and it was 5 hours between the first time I seen this bear and the time I shot it. Spotted it in an avalanche chute feeding, but the wind direction was all wrong. After an hour or so, it bed down. Shortly after that, the wind shifted direction and the hike was on. Took awhile to hike up the mountain. I got to a spot where I couldn't get any closer (276 yards) because of the shape of the mountain. If I did try, the next time I would see the bear, I would have been 30 yards from him. At this point, the bear was still bedded down. So, I waited. While I was waiting, I piled up some snow for a good gun rest. Finally the bear stood up and started sniffing the air. He may have been getting my scent at this time because the wind was swirling. I lined up, and fired. He never took a step. Took him behind the front shoulder. Once I walked up to him, he scared the crap out of me and my partner. We were shifting him around for pictures, and I guess his lungs still had some air in them and with the moving around, the air started coming out and he made a noise. I jumped back and put another bullet in him just in case. The pictures aren't the greatest because of the steep slope of the mountain in that spot. Couldn't really move much.

He's not huge or anything - just under 7ft, but full coat of hair and some nice colors.

Here is the last Leh authoized Grizz taken from MU 3-16 in 1998.We saw three G-bears in two days of hunting and got this seven foot boar up Blowdown Creek on May 5th. There were two more LEH tags in 99, the last year for the draw in 3-16 but I here no bears were taken. The bear looks kind'a raggedy because he rolled down the little slide creek and was soaking wet.

Here's a print that a hunting partner of mine came across in region 7 this past year. The glove looks smaller than it is because of the extended length to cover the wrist. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff117/Tron28/2008_Oct_Hunt_with_Bud_and_Yuri_005.jpg

2nd was a 7'10 healthy bear that followed my hunter and I FROM CAMP ( un known to us)...for an afternoon hunt..then followed us BACK to camp ( unknown to us...tracks told the story)..and decided to charge us 3 times at the cabin...he ' bit it' .

3rd was this scary old silver back...close encounter on a mountain , I used quick thinking , threw a beer into some willows..he instantly chased after the beer..I ran.

Nice bears!
Wanted to put in this year, but wasnt able to gain enough confidence in the research I'd been able to do to committ to put into an area with any confidence

One like proguides first would fit the bill nicely, good lookin country.
Only want one G bear myself.

Here is some video of a Grizzly Boar, somewhere around a 7 foot bear.

We had the draw for Bella Coola/Coastal and spent a few days kicking around. This was the only bear we saw but he just wasn't big enough.

The treeplanters actually cheered and clapped ( most of them )when we went by with this one....we tarped it before the highway. I took him home whole to show my young son because he couldn't go with me that day.
