Am thinking about making a trip to the Island for a fall black bear, looking at the Nimpkish Valley area. Can anyone offer suggestions on when the fish are running, or a possible location in this general area?

thanks

Right before Woss on the right of the highway is Claude Elliot main line, we saw 9 bears the first day. They are already excavating dens and moving alot. As far as fish go I'd imagine they are all through the river systems by now with all the high water, but we were in the alpine the whole time. I Wouldnt shoot a bear feeding on fish personally, go for the berry eating bears.

You can even go west at Woss and around Vernon Lake

There is a forest service camp site at the north end of the lake that you can stay at and anywhere around there are lots of bears
