Definitely a Mandarin Duck, closely related to our wood duck, either a pet that got away or a long flight from asia. Very beautiful looking bird, I'm guessing you found it at a park though, it would make a great mount, time to get out the pellet gun :tongue: Or feed it bread crumbs all the way to a hunting area :biggrin:

I saw one of those at Bowen Island about 20 yrs ago with a bunch of mallards at the local duck pond.

Yup - Mandarin duck (drake). Lots of them down in Stanley Park.

This is the Campbell domestic duck you see deep fried in Chinese stores and restaurants.
